Hi, I’m Jaron Riddle.
Professional recovery support & sober companion
My path has included trauma, addiction, homelessness, time in rehabs and treatment centers, and incarceration. It has also included healing through treatment, through ceremony, and through the slow work of rebuilding a life. I've now been sober for more than 13 years, and I'm a father of three teenage sons.
None of that experience is behind me in the sense of being finished with it. It's the ground I stand on when I sit with someone who's early in their own recovery, scared, or unsure whether things can actually change. I know they can, because I've lived it. I now do this work from my home base in Ashland, Oregon, supporting clients locally and across the country.
Identity & Approach
I'm an enrolled member of the Klamath Tribes and a descendant of the Shasta Nation. My cultural identity and relationship with the land continue to shape how I show up in this work. I do my best to be grounded, patient, and connected to something larger than the immediate crisis in front of us.
I approach clients as a fellow human being and recovery companion, not as an authority who claims to have their answers. My role is to help create the safety and conditions in which someone can do their own meaningful work whether that's staying steady through a vulnerable transition, or navigating something harder underneath. My approach emphasizes respect, grounded support.
Alongside my personal recovery, I've spent six-plus years working professionally as a recovery coach and in the addiction treatment field, including as:
Certified Drug and Alcohol Counselor (CDAC)
Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA)
Certified Recovery Mentor
County Program Manager
Peer Supervisor
Harm-reduction leader
I also currently work in Oregon's legal psilocybin profession as a licensed facilitator, and I have a long history of community service through participation on Oregon boards, committees, and councils.
Professional background
Walking the path beside you
There is no substitute for personal understanding paired with years of hands-on experience. I've walked the road of recovery myself, and I've spent years helping others navigate theirs. I bring that same calm, practiced presence to every person I work with.
Why this work
I do this work because I know what it's like to need someone steady beside you who isn't judging you, isn't rushing you, and has actually been where you are. If I can be that for even one person during a hard stretch of their life, that's the work I want to be doing.
